Holiday entertaining made
easy!
With a little
preparation (and absolutely zero perspiration) you can make
holiday entertaining fabulous and stress-free!
Here are some things to keep in mind as you plan for the big
event ...
Rule #1, Don't
reinvent the wheel. Do half the work. Half the work
you say? Yes! My thought is this: you only have so
much time in the day (especially if you work, have kids, or have
yet to plan your outfit). You can either put your effort
in to your appetizers or the main dish. Take advantage of
our tremendous products that are ready to serve such as the
Private Harvest dips (we have six varieties including kalamata
olive and garlicy parmesean - yum!) Just add bread sticks
and you're done!
Rule #2,
Don't skimp on the mood. Set the mood with just the right
music. (Ipods are so great for shuffling your favorites
songs appropriate for the occasion). Don't under estimate
the power of lighting! If you haven't yet invested in
dimmer switches for your home it is time to upgrade now -
seriously! Do the footwork & buy the plates yourself and
pay an electrician to properly install them. After all, we
want the entertaining to be the focus of the night - not an
electrical fire in your kitchen!
Speaking of fires, I don't have to tell you the importance of
candlelight - it is so flattering and sets the mood for a
festive event. I like to use candles in multiples to form
a striking centerpiece (it doesn't allows need to be about
flowers, you know!)
Sidenote:
Check out the wonderful candle varieties that Persnickety offers
from tapers in seasonal colors to jar candles with just the
right scent (the Who's Who of Hollywood proclaim Archipelago's
"Bamboo Teak" as their scent of choice for the upcoming season!)
I always like a scented candle in the powder room along with
Caspari guest towels in fun & seasonal patterns.
Rule #3,
Restock the Bar! We all know we over imbibe
throughout the holiday season, so you better just plan on having
your liquor cabinet overflow- and don't forget the wine and
champagne! Seriously, can you think of anything more
festive than the "pop" of a champagne cork? I don't think
so...Now do yourself a favor and alternate water between each
cocktail you consume- then head to the nearest stairmaster to
burn of all the excess from the prior nights shenanigans.
Repent!
Sidenote: Persnickety has a full
bar section with a line of products that will help you entertain
in style, from our colorful wine pulls, to our deck-o-cocktails
playing cards, individual martini shakers, crystal decanters,
wine glasses, cocktail recipe books, and of course a wide
variety of cocktail napkins from our favorite vendor, Caspari.
